Managing Watches

  • Updated

This article describes how to manage Watches that you or others have already created. Please refer to Creating a Watch if you'd like more information about creating a new Watch.

Viewing Watches

You can view all Watches that you have created or that have been created for you in the Watch List. You can access the Watch List by clicking on the Watch List icon Watch eye in the sidebar. For each Watch, you will see the metric, filters and trigger that have been configured.

The "Last Run Status" column shows the outcome of the last execution of each Watch, which is either a scheduled or a manual run (refer to Manually running a watch for more information about running Watches manually). The possible values for this column are:

Status

Description

Not Run Yet

A newly created Watch that has not yet been run (via the schedule or manually).

Not Triggered

On the last run of the Watch the trigger was not met, so you or the custom recipients were not sent an email notification.

Triggered

On the last run of the Watch the trigger was met so you or the custom recipients were sent an email notification.

Failed

On the last run of the Watch an error meant that the watch could not be evaluated.

Editing a Watch

From the "Actions" column of each Watch in the Watch List you can navigate to the "Edit watch" view. The "Edit watch" view is the same as the "Setup a New Watch" view described in Creating a Watch, except that you can also edit the Watch filters. You change change the inverse flag for percentages, trigger, schedule, recipient list and filters.

Edit actions

Once you've made your changes, you can save the Watch by clicking "Save" at the bottom of the page.

Removing a watch

If you decide you no longer want to receive notifications from on of your Watches, then you can remove it via the Delete button within the "Actions" of the table. Before deleting it, you will be asked to confirm its removal.

Manually running a watch

After editing or creating a Watch, you may want to validate that you have configured the trigger correctly but not want to wait until the next scheduled run. You can do this by executing a manual run of the watch from the "Actions" column of the Watch List. After doing a manual run, the "Last Run Status" will be updated 5 seconds later to reflect the new Watch status.

Run a watch

If you have the watch management permission, then you are able to see, edit and delete other peoples Watches. You will therefore have an additional column in the Watch List to show the "Owner" of the Watch.
