Creating a Remediation Objective

  • Updated

This article describes how to create a new Objective. If necessary, you can find out more About Remediation Objectives here before you start.

Creating an Objective

Objectives can be created based on any metric within the Panaseer platform, so the journey to develop one begins on a Dashboard:

  1. Navigate to your chosen Dashboard and identify a metric for which you wish to create an Objective.
  2. To create an Objective directly from the Dashboard, click the Create Objective button at the bottom of the metric card create an objective icon.
  3. For more control over the Objective scope, access the expanded card by clicking on the metric. On the Scope screen, you can narrow the scope of the Objective by drilling into the matrix on the right or applying filters on the left (for example, to a specific Region).

  4. Moving onto the Refine screen, you can further narrow down the scope based on the values shown in the table.

  5. On the Action screen, you can create an Objective by clicking mceclip3.png for the chosen metric with the defined scope.
  6. Within the Create Objective view, you can choose the Name and description of the OIbjective. You can also can select the target you wish to achieve and when you want to achieve this by.
    • The Target is the state you wish to be in at the end of the Objective rather than the amount of change you want to see. For example, if I wanted to remove all 100 detections of a vulnerability fully, the target would be 0 rather than 100.
    • Objective schedules can be set to have a future start date, in which case they will only begin tracking on the start date, before which they will be marked as planned
    • Not all the columns shown in the Refine screen can be used as Objective filters. For example, for Vulnerability detections, you cannot use the device identifier such as Entity ID or IP address as filters.
  7. Click create button to begin tracking your Objective.
