Building Controls Scorecards

  • Updated

Controls Scorecards distil complex data from several dashboards into a single, comprehensive score, providing immediate clarity on your organization's overall controls performance.

You can build as many scorecards as your organization needs, allowing you to quickly shift focus between different strategic goals. For example, you might build a scorecard for each region in which your organization operates, AMER, EMEA and APAC or you could create Security Framework-aligned scorecards to track compliance against NIST CSF or CIS Controls.

Deleting a scorecard is permanent. A warning displays to confirm deletion.

Add dashboards to the scorecard

Scorecards rely on dashboard scores to present information on your strategic goals, but only dashboards with threshold evaluated metrics contribute to the overall score.

For information on how to set up a dashboard and add metrics, see Creating a Dashboard.

You can add as many dashboards as you need to focus on your goals. Each dashboard contributes to the Overall Performance score and each of the metrics used to build the dashboards is available in the Top Analysis sidebar.

  1. Click Add Dashboard to get started or click Edit in the top-right of the scorecard to edit an existing scorecard.
The Edit sidebar shows an overall score preview, a dashboard weight section, and a dashboards selection section.

  3. Add and remove dashboards as required:
    • Click the add.png button to add a dashboard to the scorecard.
    • Click the remove.png button to remove a dashboard from the scorecard. Not all dashboards support scoring, so refer to the Score column to check which dashboards are applicable.

The dashboards you selected are displayed in the Weight section.

Weight is shared evenly between all the dashboards you added. In reality, not all dashboards carry the same weight of importance to your organization's objectives and compliance requirements.

If you want to assign more weight to certain dashboards, refer to Weight dashboards by importance.

Weighting allows you to set the importance of individual dashboards, ensuring that the data more accurately reflects the overall health of the initiatives covered by the scorecard.

Any weighting applied to metrics at dashboard level Screenshot 2025-04-09 at 11.37.32.png also applies to all scorecards using the dashboard to calculate performance. Refer to Weighting in the Dashboard score for more information.

  1. Click the Edit menu at the top-right of the scorecard to apply weights to dashboards.
  2. Apply weights to each dashboard in order of importance, up to 100%.

In the example, Attack Surface Foundational Controls is the most important to the overall score with a weight of 50% and CRI Profile v2.1 is the lease important with a weight of 10%.
