This article describes how to view, track and edit your Objectives. Please refer to Creating a Remediation Objective if you would like to create an Objective first.
Viewing Objectives
You can access a list of Remediation Objectives by clicking on the Remediation Objectives button on the left-hand navigation bar. The Remediation Objectives page provides a table with details of all Objectives and their status and progress.
From this view, you can click on any of the Objectives to see a more detailed tracking view.
Tracking Objectives
You can access the Objective Tracker page by clicking on an Objective in the list on the Remediation Objectives page. The Objective Tracker page helps you to understand the progress of an Objective and if you are on track to meet your target within the given schedule. There are details about the Objective including the metric it is based on, the schedule, filters and owner (e.g., the person who created it).
To understand the Objective's current state, the page show its status, start value, current value, target value and progress towards the target.
The burndown chart is a time series chart showing the real trend of your metric and the ideal trend to reach your target value. This allows you to determine whether you are on track to meet the target at the current rate of remediation.
For example, you are looking to remediate all critical detections on UK Server devices:
- If your current value is below the ideal trend value (dotted line), then you are on track to meet your target if you follow your current trend.
- If your current value is above the ideal trend value, then you are not likely to reach you target value unless you make correction measures.
Below the burndown chart is a table of the remaining issues that need to be remediated to reach your target. As with are other tables in the Panaseer platform, you are able to select which column you want to see and sort by those columns. You are also able to jump to specific entities in question such as Device or Vulnerability.
To support remediation actions, you can export the remaining issues as a CSV by clicking Export CSV in the top right-hand corner of the page.
Editing Objectives
You can click from the Objective List or
from the Objective Tracker page to edit an existing Objective.
In the edit side bar you can edit the the Name, Description and schedule.
Archiving and deleting Objectives
If an Objective is completed or no longer needed it can been archived. This means it will no longer show up on the Remediation Objectives list page.
To archive an Objective from the Remediation Objectives list page, click the Archive button in the "Action" column and click Archive.
To view the Objectives that have been archived from the Remediation Objectives list page, click the "Archive" tab, this will update the table to show only the archived Objectives. Archived Objectives can be unarchived by click the Unarchive button .
From the "Archive" tab, you can also delete Objectives by clicking the Delete button .
Once an Objective is deleted, it can not be recovered. If you are in any doubt about whether you will need to access the Objective in the future, then it is safer to archive it.
